Sri Bharathi Engineering College for Women (SBECW), is a front-running Institution solely for women students, from 2009 at Pudukkottai District. By its name it pays tribute to Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar, a celebrated Tamil poet and advocate for women's rights. Operated by Sri Bharathi Educational Trust, our college is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. We offer five bachelor's degree programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology.


Teaching Learning Process

SBECW offers an optimal setting with a proficient faculty to elevate the teaching and learning journey. Emphasizing critical thinking, communication, and creativity, the institution employs outcome-based methods and skill-centric approaches. Leveraging digital resources and academic engagements, there's a marked improvement in students' cognitive skills and educational advancement. Additionally, a mentorship program is in place to address concerns of struggling students. Consistently administering assignments, tests, and evaluations to enhance student performance in semester examinations has enabled us to uphold our top position and maintain first place in Pudukottai District and 40th place in University result. Apart from this, value added courses and certificate courses are conducted every year on various topics to enrich the students with knowledge on multiple fields.


Infrastructural facilities

SBCEW, nestled in a 5.02-acre expanse in Kaikkurichi village, boasts spacious classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, an auditorium, seminar halls, tutorial spaces, common rooms, restrooms, and essential facilities. Our labs feature comprehensive equipment, Centralized Computer Centre with high speed internet facilities emphasizing experiential learning. To combat power disruptions, we've installed a power house, solar panels, UPS systems, and inverters across classrooms, labs, hostels, and street lights. Specifically designed facilities such as stretchers, ramps, and toilets cater to the needs of physically disabled individuals.


Our expansive digital library houses over 15,000 books covering various departments, 55 periodical magazines, 5 daily newspapers, and 48 national and international journals with bi-yearly subscriptions. It provides a spacious and calm environment for students and staff for reading and lending books. Our college prioritizes Research and Development in diverse Engineering fields, engaging in initiatives like the Smart India Hackathon (SIH), patent filings, seeking research grants, and hosting programs on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) through the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) to enhance employability skills.


Students gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies through Industrial Visits to institutions like ISRO and Solar Power Plants. With high-speed Wi-Fi, indoor/outdoor sports facilities, hostel accommodations, Hygienic canteen facility gymnastics, yoga amenities, Health care centre with Ambulance Service for Medical Emergency and GPS-equipped safe transportation covering a 100-km radius, we ensure a secure, enjoyable, and comfortable environment for students.


Students’ activities and achievements

Throughout the year, a range of activities, starting with an orientation program for newcomers, along with cultural, sports, social events, and competitions such as essay writing, poetry, debates, drawing, singing, dancing, and face painting, are organized. These activities foster creativity and teamwork among students.


Seminars, training sessions, and competitive events, including inter and intra-college technical fests, provide exposure, resulting in students winning prizes. Various clubs like "Beyond Structure Club," "Binary Brainers Club," "Energy Club," "Einstein’s Quiz Club," "Aptitude Club," and "Tamil Mandram" are established to promote interpersonal skills. Specific clubs like the "Binary Brainers Club" and "Coding Club" focus on enhancing coding abilities.


Special talks by industry experts, alumni, and trainers are arranged annually. Effective communication, crucial for exchanging ideas and information efficiently, is a cornerstone. Our Communication Skill Development Program equips students with strong verbal and written communication skills through a tailored curriculum. This initiative significantly boosts confidence and self-esteem, particularly among students from rural backgrounds.


Incubation Centre

Through this centre, students are mentored to start-up innovative projects in the campus and develop them to meet the societal needs. They not only try to find solutions for real life problems but also translate ideas to products and act as a platform for easy commercialization with minimal commercial values.


Alumni

Our esteemed alumni are invited to reunite, reminiscing about their past and sharing insights from their current workplaces. Gathering their valuable suggestions and recommendations, we aim to enhance the learning experience for current students by keeping them abreast of recent trends. Alumni also actively engage with present students, offering a platform that aids in placements and supports their future aspirations.


Placement and Self Development

Continuous self-growth is our focus, emphasizing soft skills like teamwork, analytical reasoning, and professional excellence. Our ICT program covers Adobe Photoshop, MatLab, web testing, CAD simulation, and Google Workspace integration.


The Training and Placement Cell readies students for industry needs with career guidance, UPSC/TNPSC insights, and skill enhancement sessions by experts from various organizations, like the District Employment Office, Ministry of Finance-Department of Revenue, IIT Madras, IAS academies, and others. They offer aptitude, group discussions, technical skills, and mock interview training.


Our students have secured placements in esteemed companies such as TVS Electronics Ltd., Akas Infusions, S & K Universal Electronics Pvt. Ltd., HCL Technologies, and TVS Auto Components Ltd. in previous years.


We have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various industries, organizations and companies for mutual resource and knowledge sharing through internship, seminars, value added courses and certificate courses. Our faculty team carryout many Consultancy Projects with nearby industries and institutions by providing solution to their real time and day to day problems. Our Faculty Members publish their Research works in reputed National and International Conference, UGC CARE, Scopus and SCI Indexed Journals.

Student Welfare

Anti-ragging, Grievance Cell, Internal Complaints Committee comprising faculty and counselors, provide a safe space for reporting harassment or campus issues. They collect complaints through suggestion boxes, address concerns promptly, and ensure fair resolutions for a secure learning environment.


Students from diverse backgrounds receive assistance in applying for scholarships such as Post Metric, First Graduate, Government School Students’, and National scholarships. These initiatives aim to relieve financial burdens, allowing students to focus on their studies.

Community Engagement and Service

NSS in collaboration with RRC and YRC engage in 82 voluntary activities, including eye check-up camps, blood donation drives, and tree planting, these groups offer services like temple and school campus cleaning, aiding orphanages, and conducting awareness programs on various topics. They also educate school students on careers, computers, and organize medical check-ups.


We implement proper waste segregation and ethical disposal methods at our institution. Emphasizing a Green Campus initiative, we aim to plant more trees to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We've raised awareness among students and faculty about the ban on non-disposable plastic use, striving for a plastic-free campus.
